Making improvements in life possible

QIAGENcares is our comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility Program, an umbrella for the support to fight the spread of infectious diseases (such as human papilloma virus), facilitate access to point-of-care diagnostics for use in regions of the worlds with limited medical resources, and collaborate with scientists to combat the spread of animal epidemics in sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Under the QIAGENcares program, we actively contribute to the fight against the spread of infectious diseases such as human papillomavirus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer. We’ve launched an initiative to donate 1 million HPV tests with the aim of bringing cervical cancer screening to the world's poorest nations.

  • In cooperation with PATH and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we developed a new version of our state-of-the-art HPV test for public-health programs in low-resource, developing countries. The careHPV Test can be used without electricity or running water and offers HPV detection results in a matter of hours — filling a critical need for women traveling to clinics from isolated villages and for those women who may need to be treated the same day.
  • Combating Veterinary Disease

Our technologies are used to combat animal disease in both the industrialized and developing world. Specialized laboratories have access to a portfolio of a range of tests to detect common animal diseases, such as swine fever or bovine viral diarrhea. Mobile diagnostic devices developed by our researchers are being used to detect and combat animal pathogens on the savannah in Cameroon, a 5- or 6-hour drive by car, where local outbreaks can quickly turn into epidemics.
